Terms of use

These terms are an agreement between you and Fickle Sports ("we", "us") for using the Fickle Sports website, app and Goose assistant (together, "the service"). By using the service you accept them. Please read the safety disclaimer in particular.

Safety disclaimer

Paragliding, hang gliding, speed flying and other free flying are dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Fickle Sports is a planning aid. It never tells you that it is safe to fly, and nothing in it is a flight briefing, instruction, or a substitute for your training, judgement and local knowledge.

  • Forecasts and scores are estimates. Weather models can be wrong, and local effects (rotor, venturi, sea breeze, thermals, overdevelopment) are often not in them. Scores are a simplified automated ranking of model data against the limits you entered. A high score does not mean conditions are safe or flyable.
  • Live data can be late, wrong or missing. Wind stations, webcams, radar and live pilot positions come from third parties and may be delayed, faulty, or show stale data, especially offline. Live tracking isn't a safety, alerting or search-and-rescue system.
  • Site information may be out of date. Launches, landings, access, parking, hazards, rules and club details are compiled from third-party, community and AI-assisted research. They can be incomplete or wrong. Sites may be closed, restricted, or on private land. Always follow local club guidance, site rules and landowner wishes.
  • Airspace is for awareness only. It's not for navigation and may not show NOTAMs, temporary restrictions or recent changes. Use official aeronautical charts and NOTAM sources.
  • Goose can be wrong. Goose is an AI. Its answers can be inaccurate, invented or out of date, however confident they sound. Check anything that matters to your safety.

You are the pilot in command. The decision to fly, and responsibility for it, is always yours. You are responsible for holding the right training, rating, licence, membership and insurance, for flying equipment that is airworthy and suited to you, and for complying with air law and local rules wherever you fly.

The service

The service is currently free. We may change, add or remove features, and suspend or end the service. We aim to keep it available and to return cached data when sources are down, but we don't promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any data will be current.

Your account

You must be at least 16 to create an account. Give accurate information, keep your sign-in secure, and tell us if you think your account has been misused. You are responsible for what happens under your account. One account per person; don't impersonate anyone.

Acceptable use

When you use the service, don't:

  • Post unlawful or harmful content, including harassment, hate, threats, spam, or content that infringes someone else's rights.
  • Share other people's personal data (including their location or photos of them) without their permission.
  • Deliberately add false or misleading site, hazard or conditions information, because other pilots may rely on it.
  • Scrape, bulk-download or resell data from the service, or use it to build a competing dataset, except through features we provide for that purpose.
  • Interfere with the service, including probing security, bypassing rate limits, or overloading it.
  • Misuse Goose, for example by trying to make it produce harmful content or act outside your own account.

Content you share

You keep ownership of what you post (reviews, photos, reports, site information, messages, logbook entries and so on). You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, adapt (for example resize or translate) and distribute it to run and improve the service. For public contributions, that includes showing them to other users and on public site pages. Site information you contribute may continue to be shown, without your name, after you delete your account.

You confirm you have the right to share what you post. We may review, moderate or remove content, and suspend accounts, that break these terms or put pilots at risk. To report content, use the in-app report tools or email privacy@ficklesports.com.

Third-party data and links

The service uses data from third parties, including Open-Meteo, OpenStreetMap contributors, Paragliding Earth, OpenAIP, the Open Glider Network, wind-station networks and webcam providers, under their own licences and attributed in the app. We don't control their accuracy or availability. Links to other websites are provided for convenience, and we aren't responsible for their content.

Our content

The service's software, design, scoring and original text belong to us or our licensors. You may use the service for your own flying and share links and forecast shares, but you may not copy or redistribute it otherwise without permission.

Our responsibility to you

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law. If you are a consumer, you also keep your statutory rights.

Subject to that, the service is provided free and "as is". We don't promise that forecasts, scores, site, airspace, live or AI information is accurate, complete or current, or that the service is fit for any particular purpose. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss or damage arising from reliance on that information or from any decision to fly, drive to a site or not fly. We are not liable for loss that was not reasonably foreseeable, for business losses, or for loss caused by events outside our reasonable control. Where we are liable, our total liability to you is limited to £100.

Ending these terms

You can stop using the service and ask us to close your account at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that seriously or repeatedly break these terms. Sections that by their nature should survive (such as the safety disclaimer, content licence and liability) continue after these terms end.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, and will change the date at the top when we do. For significant changes we'll give notice in the app. If you keep using the service after that, you accept the new terms.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer living elsewhere in the UK or in the EU, you can also rely on the mandatory consumer protections of your country and bring proceedings in your local courts. If any part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest still applies.
